Richard Littlejohn on Haddad and Legoland

There’s been a couple of occasions in the past where I’ve lept to Haitham al-Haddad’s defence. This is another one of those rare occasions.

For five years I’ve studied the man’s talks. Until recently I’d go through three to four of them a week and I met the man himself for a brief chat the other month in Mile End after the Freedom of Speech – Are Muslims excluded? event. Thankfully, I no longer have to wade through hours of footage of seminars and conferences as some other poor sod now has that job.

I’ve always been interested in finding out the truth with Haddad. There are enough areas where I already disagree strongly with his views, I have no interest in any hype or bullshit.

I don’t really have an opinion on the Legoland business but Richard Littlejohn’s pisstake of Haddad in his article ‘Jolly Jihadi Boy’s Outing to Legoland’ needs straightening out. Yeah I know it’s all jokey jokey but lets enlighten Littlejohn on a couple of things about Haddad.

Haddad does not condone or excuse terrorism in the UK in any shape or form. He has stated that Muslims are living under a covenant in the UK – a country which allows them the freedom to practice and propagate their religion. He goes further and addresses those who may not believe such a covenant exists at this current moment in time by saying they also have a ‘social contract’ with this country and its citizens. Because of this social contract they should behave in the best manner towards the citizens of this country. Of course, the main reason for this is to present Islam in a good light but so what?

“Rear coach packed with explosives stops in Parliament Square. As Big Ben strikes ten, driver will blow himself up”

“Members of the Tower  Hamlets Martyrs Brigade stage a Mumbai-style attack on the Windsor Legoland Resort Hotel. Includes instruction in how to build a grenade-launcher out of Lego”

“Afternoon prayers, conducted by Ayman al-Zawahiri, live via internet from his compound in the tribal regions of Waziristan. Followed by a seminar on how Lego can be used to build weapons which can be smuggled undetected through  airport security.”

Shut up you mug.

Littlejohn drags Omar Bakri Mohammed and Al Muhajiroun into it. These are men that Haddad would view as idiots and possible plants to give Islam a bad name. Certainly not men who have been educated on the correct way to give dawah.

“Coaches leave for Legoland. Males and females to travel on separate coaches. Strictly no fraternisation…”

I do not give a bollocks how people choose to live their lives and how they prefer to travel as long as they are not hurting anyone or forcing it on others, neither should Littlejohn.

I think Haddad has some very dodgy ideas for society, I think other people have much better ideas. I want to (and do) argue the toss with Haddad’s followers over his views that I find problematic. No one needs jokes about terrorism getting in the way.

Fuck off out of it Littlejohn.
